The first is news papers are printed on the cheapest paper available. They are meant to be thrown away at the end of the day, not cherished in a beautiful frame hanging on your wall. Because of this simple factor there is no way to keep them from yellowing or fading over time. That paper is riddled with acid & even the finest framing materials can’t make your paper last forever. However, there are some things you can do to extend the life of your story.
When it comes to news paper framing there is a cool trick, most publications will actually print you a copy of your desired page on fine photography paper. This means you get a clear high def picture & crisp lettering. It is an excellent way to get the story on paper that will certainly stand the test of time. If the article can not be printed on nice paper don’t fret. You still have options. The best thing you can do is put it behind high quality glass. Now I’m not saying that it needs 99% UV Anti Reflective Museum glass (I get that it is just a piece of news paper), but a solid non-glare glass with some UV properties to will do your piece a world of good.
More often than not a news paper story is started on one page & continued on another. Thus leaving the ever perplexing question as to how one gets the entire story in a frame without the end result looking like a toddler did a cut & paste job.
